Pittsburgh's greatest hope resides upon the shoulders of activist who seek to:
  • organize Ideas,
  • organize People and
  • organize Finances for the delivery of inspiring communications.

  • Get and Go Groupware

Our landscape in politics and in civic life is scattered. We are moving into so many special interest groups that we can't seem to have a wide view. We need to be more global in our ways and in our reactions. We need to be lead by generalists. The disconnect is wide. The divides (including the digital divides) are great. We need to leap together in a nimble, coordinated, and inspired way.

"In short, the history of thought, of knowledge, of philosophy, of literature seems to be seeking, and discovering, more and more discontinuities, whereas history itself appears to be abandoning the irruption of events in favour of stable structures."
-Michel Foucault (1926-1984), The Archaeology of Knowledge (1969)

To Champion the Cause of Groupware

Establishing an effective Groupware process is a priority.

In June, 2001, after running as a candidate for mayor, I set out to champion efforts that would boost the adoption of Groupware. The campaign contacts and schedule were too demanding to organize. Something needed to be done. The Groupware mission and database creation stayed alive but didn't really grow stronger, as hoped. There is still hope we'll have enough supporters to rely uon Groupware to make it a vibrant effort.

    Opt-In & Voluntary

To use Groupware, everyone needs a username and a password. Make them up for yourself and then Email yours to the system administrator. Or call, 412-481-2497, and leave that info in a voice message.

Breaking up is not hard to do.

Every groupware user has the right and option of pulling out and off of the system. We'd love to hear from you should you decide to quit so we can wipe away the associated web resouces. The web resources cause some overhead. When you depart, we'd love to hear why you decided to do so.

From time to time, we clean out the Groupware accounts and can eliminate any user, especially those that have been idle.

    Accountability

The built in accountability is clear -- as this endeavor has my name on it. My face and reputation is on the line.

    A social contract is pending.
