Objections with co-publisher of SwimSwam - B. Keith

Had another meeting w SwimSwam co owner, B Keith just now. Nice guy. I pitched the idea of doing a SwimSwam branded product for them to resell. He loves the subscription model. He doesn’t want to be hit w inventory. No worries I say as we can sell via Amazon. He thinks everything can be done on a smart watch or tablet. And if not now, one day soon. And, if AutoCoach does get successful, others will do a knock off for the watch that is hooked to the phone / tablet. Well, we need a chart or article that does a compare and contrast as to what can be done w AutoCoach and what can / can’t be done w a smart mobile device. And, we need a plan to have a button push device that talks w a mobile device to get him on board.       So he sees the market as fast-moving, and essentially crowded. He’s probably correct generally speaking. Latest personal fitness/sleep (etc) trackers are a ring you wear on your finger ! Consumer level is certainly the highest risk and most difficult market to break into. Data is the key, and despite the proliferation of websites with lots of data – i.e Strava, individual manufacturers like Suunto, etc – very little (perhaps none) of it is useful to a club or overarching association or body. We should probably throw Meet Manager in there as well. Fair suggestion you make re a chart saying what can/can’t be done. I imagine timing, splits, and even stroke rate can be. Stroke index and distance per stroke, and velocity – probably not so. Need a phone and a calculator for those – so almost everyone can do that if they want to go through the 2 steps, but no-one does. Time and date stamping is the other overarching requirement that is a challenge. And some of those measure are samples and spot-checks. This is where a fully functioning AutoCoach One, or any super-smart wearable in the future, will beat a phone or tablet. And will do so until (if?) they come up with a phone/tablet that will triangulate off a focused object via GPS and calculate such data over an event length. And if it can Bluetooth to a ring on a finger as well or instead – whoa ! Lots is possible, out of boxes. Good point too about the handheld talking to a mobile device. That is fundamentally there in “the plan” via capture and extract. A bit like Meet Mobile. The other (repeater function) could happen too I’m sure, but it would need to happen in parallel with secure data storage – so not just relay snapshots to the device. Might be a market for that in itself, but I wouldn’t like to make a judgement there. Good conversations, and nice to hear what he thinks. Regards, John W. FUNCTION: Mobile (check or not) AutoCoach (check) = = Also, I fully understand that this conversation is far more detailed and with depth than what a consumer or coach would want to have. With the customer, we don't want to sell off such a check-sheet. Rather, sell benefits and sell what is available NOW. However, with him, I'm talking about a "private label" co-marketing effort / strategic alliance arrangement. I don't think they'll be excited to invest time and effort into something that can be re-programmed on a iPad in a month and take the legs off of this operation.
